Clothing
Helmet Requirement
In the federal state of Tyrol, there is currently no legal helmet requirement.
However, we strongly recommend wearing a helmet at all times for your own safety!
Children without a helmet will be excluded from the group course.
During course hours, our staff is responsible for the children’s safety – without a helmet, the risk of injury is too high.
How should I dress for the lesson?
For a pleasant and safe lesson, we recommend the following equipment:
- Ski underwear (warm and breathable)
- Ski suit (at least 10,000 mm water column recommended)
- Gloves (mittens keep small children’s hands especially warm – available in our shop)
- Ski socks (prevent pressure points and provide comfort – available in our shop)
- Neck warmer or scarf (available in our shop)
- Balaclava (for bad weather – available in our shop)
- Ski goggles or sunglasses (available in our shop)
- Helmet (available in our shop and rental)
- Sunscreen (important even in cold weather, as UV radiation in the mountains is strong – available in our shop)
Important tip for children
We recommend labeling all clothing and equipment with the child’s name.
Especially children attending lunchtime supervision often lose track of which gloves or helmet belong to them.
Group course Ski
Number of participants – Group courses
- Regular group size: 5–10 persons
- Maximum number of participants: 12 persons
The maximum permitted group size of 12 persons is only reached at our ski school in absolute exceptional cases – for example, when ski instructors are absent due to illness.
As a rule, a group consists of 5 to 10 participants.
If the group size is below 5 persons, the ski school reserves the right to merge groups or shorten the lesson time accordingly.
Joining an ongoing group
Joining an already ongoing group is only possible after personal consultation – either by email to info@skischule-kostenzer.at
Course start on weekends
A course start on weekends is not possible.
Please schedule your course start during the week.
Age of children in group courses
Children’s group courses are offered for children aged 4 to 14.
Young people aged 15 and over should take part in the youth or adult course.
Trial course for beginner children (3–4 years)
In the low season, beginner children aged 3 and 4 have the opportunity to take part on Sunday mornings for 2 hours in the “Green” group in Hochfügen at a special price.
At the end of the trial period, it will be decided together whether the child would like to or is able to continue in the regular course.
For children under 3 years of age or very reserved children, we recommend booking a private instructor.
Family & friends in one group
If all participants have a similar skiing ability, we are happy to try to place them in the same group.
Please state your request already when booking and also inform the ski instructor on site during the group allocation again in person.
Date not selectable when booking?
If a date is not selectable online, the course is very likely fully booked.
In this case, please send us an email to info@skischule-kostenzer.at.
Private ski and snowboard lessons
Can I reserve my preferred ski instructor?
Yes – we will try to accommodate your request!
If you prefer a specific ski instructor when booking, please indicate this in the “Remarks” field during the online booking or send us an email at:

Group snowboard lessons
Minimum age for snowboard group courses
The minimum age for our snowboard group courses is 10 years, as we only offer youth and adult courses due to low demand.
Children under 10 years can learn snowboarding in the form of private lessons with one of our experienced snowboard instructors.
We will be happy to advise you personally!
